Dawn Barnes Karate Kids is on a mission to inspire self-esteem in EVERY child...and that includes children with special needs. We welcome children who have been diagnosed with:
- Autistic Disorder
- Atypical Autism
- Asperger's Disorder
- Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Oppositional Defiant Disorder
- Disruptive Behavior Disorder
- Cognitive Deficits
Training in karate can serve as an important corollary to other physical, behavioral and psychological treatment programs. And when karate is taught with Dawn Barnes' love-based teaching method, every child has the chance to feel like a success, whether in a group, semi-private, or private class session.
Many children with special needs have already benefited from karate classes at Dawn Barnes Karate Kids, including children who are receiving services from Regional Center, as well as children who have been referred by physicians and psychologists in private practice.
Join the fun! Try something new! Call to schedule a trial lesson today!
Private classes are available in half-hour increments at convenient times throughout the day. When appropriate, parents can even participate in private training and join their children on the mat.
